Collide-oscopic

One night in a meteor shower,
In a dazzling flash of stars
Into my world collided
A radiant being made of glass

Too fragile to behold
With my raw and naked eye
I could only peek in glimpses
Telescopically and slight

So wonderfully reflective
Something different every time
In with the alien elements
Many echoes that were mine

I saw the softness of a siren
Mixed with heavy battle scars
I couldn’t say for certain
Sometimes Venus sometimes Mars

Across the yearning distance
I chose to close my eyes
Making contact with this being
Was all my heart desired

Reaching out to grasp
The fragment in my hand
I found nothing there to cling to
Only brightly coloured sand
